Victorian Canine Rescue was founded in 2004. Each year hundreds of dogs are surrended, dumped, or left unclaimed and wind up in our already over-crowded, under-funded shelters or pounds. The staff and volunteers are over worked and under appreciated for all that they do for the dogs in their care, and with the time limits placed on the dogs due to all of the above reasons, many of them are euthanised each week.
Victorian Canine Rescue saw a need and an opportunity to help the staff, pounds and shelters save more lives by offering the dogs a second chance by coming into a home based system where the dogs are purchased from pounds/shelters are totally rehabilitated for any behaviour issues and then on sold when a new home is found.
Victorian Canine Rescue can offer more one on one care and attention to the dogs that need rehabilitation that would other wise slip throught the cracks due to limited space, time and money needed to rehabilitate them to the point that they are suitable to be rehomed. We also specialise in taking in old and special needs dogs. (We Do Not save dogs that fail the shelters/pounds temp test for aggression issues towards other dogs, animals or humans)

Victorian Canine Rescue on sell our dogs under the same guidelines as the shelters and pounds; none of our rescued dogs are on sold unless they are fully rehabilitated, temperament tested, vet assessed, vaccinated, microchipped, de-sexed, wormed, and flea treated. All our dogs are on sold with a legally binding contract to safe guard us and the new adoptive family.
